When is Stranger Things 3 on Netflix? Who is in the cast, and what is going to happen?

When is Stranger Things 3 on Netflix? Who is in the cast, and what is going to happen? Even before the second season of Netflix’s Stranger Things debuted to great excitement in October 2017, the third season seemed a foregone conclusion, and the company made it public late in 2017.

Although it has taken longer than previous instalments, the anticipation is building as summer 2019 draws near. Read on to learn everything we currently know about Stranger Things 3.

“[Creators] The Duffer Brothers and [producer] Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high,” she said. “They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait.”

On November 10, 2018, David Harbour announced that filming was complete and that he was eager to shave his moustache.

The show’s initial “mall teaser,” which first suggested a summer release, links up with the summer 2019 release.

Executive producer and director Shawn Levy stated during the Emmys in September 2018 that”cinematically, it’s our biggest season yet”, which perhaps goes some way to explain the additional time required to film season three.

Is a trailer available?

YES. On March 20, Netflix published the first complete trailer for the breezy third season of Stranger Things. The Who’s Baba O’Reilly serves as the soundtrack, which makes it apparent that the Stranger Things kids are beginning to mature, but the Upside Down’s terrors still there.

A few months later, Netflix released another full-length trailer showcasing the return of the terrifying Mind Flayer from season two, who now seems to be controlling Billy, played by Dacre Montgomery.

Who is in the cast?

The good news is that all of the original cast are on board for the new episodes. That means: Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, Finn Wolfhard’s Mike, Winona Ryder’s Joyce, Noah Schnapp’s Will, Caleb Mclaughlin’s Lucas, Gaten Matarazzo’s Dustin, Natalia Dyer’s Nancy, Charlie Heaton’s Jonathan and fan favourite Joe Keery (Steve) are all set to return.

Season two additions Max (Sadie Sink) and Billy (Dacre Montgomery) will return, but sadly Sean Astin’s Bob… We’re still not ready to talk about it.

An advertisement for a new Hawkins mall featuring ice cream vendors Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and newbie Robin was previously made available via Netflix (Maya Thurman-Hawke).

New cast members include Maya Thurman-Hawke (daughter of Uma and Ethan), who most recently appeared in the BBC rendition of Little Women last year, who will play Robin, a new character who unearths a “dark secret” in Hawkins.

Thurman-Hawke, who is 19 years old, will likely hang out with Jonathan and Nancy and other characters in the older kids’ peer group. But what could this “dark secret” be? Does she merely learn about the events from the first two seasons of Stranger Things, or does she learn something new? Could her persona turn out to be Steve’s new love interest after getting dumped?

The Princess Bride actor Cary Elwes and Storm Troopers actor Jake Busey have also been added to the cast as Bruce and Mayor, respectively.

The daughter of Uma and Ethan Thurman-Hawke, Maya, will join the main cast as Robin, a new character who unearths a “dark secret” in Hawkins, following her performance in the BBC rendition of Little Women from a year ago.

Thurman-Hawke, who is 19 years old, is most likely going to be friends with characters like Jonathan and Nancy in the older kids’ peer group, but what could this “dark secret” be? Is it just that she learns what happened in the first two seasons of Stranger Things, or is there something else going on? And may Steve, who was dumped, find love with her character?

Cary Elwes from The Princess Bride and Storm Troopers actor Jake Busey have also been recruited to the cast as new characters Bruce and Mayor.

What will occur in Season 3 of Stranger Things 3?

Following are Stranger Things 2 spoilers.

The official Stranger Things 3 synopsis was made available by Netflix in June.

Hawkins, Indiana, in 1985, is experiencing a scorching summer. School is out, a brand-new mall has opened, and the Hawkins group is approaching adulthood, “It is read. “The dynamics of the group are complicated by the emergence of romance, and they must figure out how to mature without drifting apart. However, risk is present.

Eleven and her pals are reminded that evil never ends; it changes as the village is besieged by both old and new foes. To survive, they will now need to work together and keep in mind that friendship always triumphs over fear.

  • The Case Of The Missing Lifeguard
  • The Sauna Test
  • The Source
  • The Birthday
  • The Bite
  • The Battle of Starcourt

Based on the titles of the season 3 episodes of Stranger Things 3, here are 5 bizarre fan theories.

There will be more horror and gore than ever before, the cast has revealed in recent interviews.

It’s definitely grimier, according to Gaten Matarazzo. “Even if you don’t enjoy gore, I mean, watch it. It is not, as some would say, for the weak of heart.”

Additionally, Noah Schnapp disclosed that Will Byers is still recovering from his time spent in the Upside Down.

“Will still has the presence of the monster left, and you kind of see what happens there,” said actor Noah Schnapp. “People have asked, ‘Does Will get a break this season?’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure, for the first two episodes. And then no one really gets a break.’”

With the Upside Down portal being closed, Hawkins lab reportedly shut down permanently, and Jonathan and Nancy eventually getting together, Stranger Things’ second season cleaned up a LOT more loose ends than its first (poor Steve).

The diabolical Smoke Monster (also known as the Mind Flayer), who had been terrorising the youngsters in the Snow Ball idyll, appeared in the series’ last frame on the roof of the school in the parallel Upside Down dimension, ready to exact retribution for his defeat in the season finale.

We do know that Hawkins has a brand-new mall, which will probably turn into a hangout for the youngsters in season 3. You can cut the sexual tension between Steve Harrington and new girl Robin with a knife in this teaser (okay, you can’t, but we think there’s a good chance these two will be romantically involved in the new season). Steve Harrington has gone and gotten himself a job in an ice cream parlour there, alongside Robin.

Worlds Turned Upside Down, a recent behind-the-scenes book, says that the show would take place in 1985, less than a year after the events of season two.

“It’s really the final summer of their childhood,” Ross Duffer says in the book. “They’re dealing with growing up, with these complicated new relationships. They’re starting to fall apart a little bit, and maybe they don’t love playing Dungeons & Dragons as much as they used to. Naturally, that’s going to generate conflict.”

Executive Producer Shawn Levy told Glamour back in January that season three would “deal with forces of evil that are new”, but an interview with the Duffer brothers suggests that the usual Upside Down monsters will likely still be in the picture.

“They’ve shut the door on the Mind Flayer, but not only is it still there in the Upside Down, it’s very much aware of the kids, and particularly Eleven,” Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter.

“It had not encountered her and her powers until that final episode. Now, it knows that she’s out there. We wanted to end on a little bit of an ominous note.”

With the superpowered illusionist Kali/Eight escaping the police at the end of episode seven and appearing to still be eager to accompany Eleven on a mission of vengeance against the men who mistreated them, it also appears very probable that we haven’t seen the last of Eleven’s “sister,” Kali/Eight.

“When Eleven gets curious about unanswered questions, Hopper is forced to reckon with some long-buried secrets,” it read. This book – which is released on 4th June – could contain vital information for season three…

As for the action in season three itself, Hopper struggles with being a single parent of a telekinetic teenager, which sees him seek advice from Joyce (Winona Ryder).

“She’s able to offer me some advice on how to deal with being a single parent and how to, like, you know, stop being so damn controlling,” actor David Harbour tells Entertainment Weekly.

It also seems that raising Eleven has brought on a new bad habit for Hopper: stress eating.

“This season, Hopper does a lot of really big, like, action-y things. But he’s fatter than you’ve ever seen him and less capable of hurting people, but a little more capable because he’s just like a big elephant,” Harbour said

And, last but not least, we’ve been promised more “dad Steve”, and the continuation of his bromance with Dustin.

“We’ll definitely get to see some more of Steve Harrington in season three, and I’ll just say we won’t be abandoning the Dad Steve magic,” Levy told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I don’t want to say much more, but I literally feel that we were walking along and we stumbled onto a gold mine with Dad Steve.”

“You definitely see more of that,” added Gaven Matarazzo (Dustin) in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “That’s what I really like about Matt and Ross: They know what fans like and they roll with it.”

What movies influenced Stranger Things 3?

The Duffers discussed the movies that served as inspiration for the upcoming season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. They consist of:

  • Fast Times at Ridgemont High
  • The Thing
  • Romancing the Stone
  • Midnight Run
  • Indiana Jones
  • Jurassic Park
  • The films of David Cronenberg

We can’t wait to see how this plays out on screen because it sounds like a strange combination.

Is a Stranger Things video game actually in the works?

Yes, there will. An appropriately vintage beat-’em-up video game will also be released on July 4th to coincide with the series’ premiere.

Other platforms have not yet been confirmed, however the Nintendo Switch is expected to carry the game. Here is a video showing some of the game’s action.

Netflix will release Stranger Things 3 on July 4, 2019.
